Autism

Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how people perceive the world and how they communicate and interact. Many choose not to see autism as a disease or illness to be ‘cured’ but instead feel that autism is a part of their identity. Autism is referred to as a spectrum condition which means that individuals can vary in how they are affected. Mental health problems such as anxiety and depression are experienced by a high proportion of people with autism and therapies including CBT are effective, especially when appropriate adaptations are made.
